Marry Me in ... Maine? | E. J. Graff @ The American Prospect

I don’t think that voters lie to the pollsters. I think that most people don’t think about lesbians and gay men very much. If they don’t give the issue much thought, they vote for the status quo: marriage as they’ve always known it, in their lifetimes. Faced with the sentence “marriage is between a man and a woman,” some who were leaning our way lose their nerve and go for safety.
