Why Are We Still Relying On An Outdated Poverty Level? | s. e. smith @ this ain't livin'

Adjustment is going to have to involve a comprehensive overhaul of the way we look at the cost of living, including not only multiple factors (food, housing, debt, healthcare expenses) but also location, another key issue. It costs more to live in San Francisco than Akron, and that means we need more precise regional breakdowns to adequately determine how much people need to sustain a decent standard of living where they are.
